Houston—January 29, 2010—Advertising luminary and adjunct professor Ann Iverson invited Origin Partners Jim Mousner and Shawn Collier to speak to her undergraduate marketing class at Rice University for a third straight year. Their presentation, When Bad Things Happen to Good Creative, focused on the relationship between strategy and creative and how both fit into the business of advertising and marketing.
Operating as the Creative Director (Mousner) and Strategy Director (Collier) at Origin, the partners’ working relationship illustrates twin values—smart thinking and creative excellence—that are key to Origin specifically and successful marketing in general.
Topics of discussion included the creative process, the business of running an agency, the day-to-day of working as a creative professional, business development and how to sell an idea.
“As a company that believes in giving graduates a chance to directly contribute to the success of our clients, we are invested in inspiring today’s students to consider a career in our industry,” said Jim Mousner. A young company within a young industry, many of Origin’s employees are only a few years from their own university experiences.
In the weeks following the lecture, Origin held an open house to give interested students the opportunity to visit with staff.
