Houston—February 24, 2009—Beating hundreds of other entries from competing Houston agencies, Origin took home the Best of Show award at the 2009 Houston Advertising Federation Addy Awards. The grand prize piece was the 2008 Annual Report for Apache Corporation (NYSE: APA), a $20B independent energy company based in Houston.
The Addy Awards comprise the highest honors imparted by the American Advertising Federation – Houston, an association of advertising professionals encompassing all disciplines in the advertising, marketing and communications industries.
Origin projects also received five separate Gold Addy Awards, the highest honors the Federation awards work in a single category. These included, in addition to the 2008 Apache Annual Report and its interactive online component, Gold Addy for advertising and publication on behalf of Boots & Coots International Well Control (AMEX: WEL).
“It’s always nice to be recognized,” said Origin Founder and Partner Jim Mousner. “Especially Best of Show at the biggest advertising award show in town. But at the same time, it’s our clients who really deserve the true recognition. They’re the ones who trust us with the work and its final result. Creating work that results in any real action challenges both the agency and client.”
All five of Origin’s Gold Addy recipients will move on to compete in a regional contest against five other states for the chance to advance to the national ADDY awards competition. Founded in 1911, the American Advertising Federation – Houston is one of the oldest service organizations in Houston, and is affiliated with its national counterpart the 50,000-member American Advertising Federation (AAF).
